In order to keep avoiding reality at bay, we must face challenges. Most people avoid uncomfortable conversations, avoid reality, live in their own bubble, and avoid confronting difficult issues. In the long run, this can cause problems as significant issues may be ignored until they become too big to handle.
Some of us lack the courage to ask such questions, preferring the easy escape from an avoidance-based existence. Rather than dealing with responsibilities or circumstances right in front of them, they turn away from them. Due to the hardships and unflinching self-analysis involved in engaging Now, they remove themselves mentally, expressively, and spiritually from it.
Moreover, a man doesn’t listen to his wife’s requests because it will require him to leave the couch. Her avoidance of the meeting is due to her unwillingness to face the fact that her business is failing. Instead of completing a difficult assignment, the student goes out on the town. A man with medical conditions refuses to go to the hospital because he fears something is very wrong with his body and he is close to death.
A person who is immature or unconscious will avoid hardships if they feel it is safe to do so. When circumstances cause discomfort, it makes sense to remove their attention from them. Rather than concentrating on just one difficult task at a time, it is easier to disperse their attention on a variety of easier tasks. There is a temptation to check out, to run and hide. However, doing so entails avoiding life itself. Power and presence are the casualties. Our presence is never used and honed when we lack the courage or discipline to face what needs to be addressed, so we can no longer feel and be happy in life.
Further, the pain and conflict can be avoided by avoidance in the short term, but suffering can also be avoided in the long term by avoidance. All things must be dealt with, and now is the time to get started. You should have a difficult conversation with your spouse today if one has one to have. When a business is in danger, don’t take a vacation or miss a meeting; work on fixing the problem right away. Write your paper as soon as possible if you have a due date.
The body should be checked by a doctor if it is sick. Avoidance is the only action that leads to peace or progress, and where avoidance exists, neither can be achieved. Motivated and free people do not ignore reality. It is their faith, strength, and love that enable them to overcome difficulties, and they see them as opportunities for testing their faith, strength, and love. Their trust in themselves and their path enables them to handle whatever life demands of them directly and swiftly, despite knowing there will be strife.
When they practice, they learn to be comfortable in the uncomfortable and achieve true mastery in their lives. The lessons they teach us can be applied to our own lives. In the face of hardship, we should not run away. This would mean separating ourselves from this world and from this time and relinquishing our ability to grow and make a difference in the world.
It is always important to remember that we gain mastery over pain and fear through addressing them. The key to success is to meet challenges instead of avoiding them. We become favored when we meet Fate’s well-placed opportunities for growth. So let’s ask ourselves, “What is it that I need to face in my life”? Is there a truth or reality that prevents me from growing and being happy?
Is there anything I can do about it right now? What can I do to better connect with this moment so that I can master what the hour requires of me? As a result, avoiding reality creates more problems rather than minimizing them.
